Men from all walks of life live every day with the tremendous burden of knowledge and secrecy of being sexually abused as a boy, and/or sexually assaulted as an adult, to include men who have experienced Military Sexual Trauma (MST). It’s often believed that we as men can’t experience sexual trauma or, if we did, we should “just get over it.” These ideas contribute to the embarrassment, shame and isolation men can carry with them their whole lives as they try to cope with their traumas. The fact is, as you already know, it’s extremely difficult for men to come forward, contributing to how we go under-recognized and are left with little if any resources designed to address their needs.
As a survivor myself, I have a heart for other men who've suffered trauma, struggled in life, and who may feel like they're broken or damaged, thinking no one understands, or worse, that nobody cares. I work with men suffering symptoms of PTSD, veterans like myself (Marine Corps) while specializing in treating male survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and men who have experienced sexual assault and Military Sexual Trauma (MST). Outside of Malesurvivor, at your work, in your community there are men who hide that it happened to them too. Some have sought help, others struggle on their own, yet all know the longing to feel whole again.
I want to hear your story. I aim to listen and support you as you take more control of your life. My hope is to help you feel understood, cared for, and rightly see your worth. Every man is significant and has the right to a fulfilling life beyond their issues, including you.
