National Judicial Institute on Domestic Child Sex Trafficking

The National Judicial Institute on Domestic Child Sex Trafficking (NJIDCST) is a 2.5-day interactive workshop for judges interested in enhancing their ability to recognize and respond to victims and children at risk for sex trafficking. Judges and judicial officers (commissioners, referees, etc.) from around the country are invited to attend this free training to learn from national experts and experienced judges on the latest information and practices. A wide range of topics will be covered, including the following and more:
- Victim risk factors and vulnerabilities
- Federal trafficking legislation
- Recruitment, control, and demand
- Trauma-informed justice systems
- Cultural considerations and bias
- Alternatives to detention
- Standards of care
- Specialty dockets and programs
- Decision-making in DCST cases
- Judicial leadership and interagency collaboration
There is no fee for this program. Participating judges will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements and for all travel and meal costs. This program is approved by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). For more information on the program, click here
