Taking Back Ourselves — Weekend of Recovery
September 13 - September 15
For a survivor, often one of the hardest things to reckon with is how you factor into the grand scheme of things. The voices from the outside shout, plead or demand to be recognized. There are also other inside forces that can keep you stuck—old demons, old loyalties, or simply the inertia that whispers, “Am I important enough to matter?”
But maybe there is a day when you come to recognize that unless you pay attention to yourself, everyone else in your life will suffer. You realize that what you have to do is not only for yourself but also for those who matter in your life. For a survivor, self-care and the bumpy road to recovery are intertwined, and they are not easy. There is no one-stop remedy. The process is a deep life journey, a profound reworking of the brain and the heart. It requires new ways of being in relationships, unbinding old embedded programs of self-hatred or self-doubt brought on by trauma.
But imagine how it would be to connect with others and yourself—sharing your truth and your story, using art and your body, and learning new tools and strategies for recovery that do not necessarily have to do with words alone, forging a process of trust where you can be held and sustained.
Taking Back Ourselves (TBO) invites you to participate in such an experience, where you can feel safe enough to risk being yourself and free enough to be vulnerable and powerful at the same time.
Healing happens in community. TBO invites you to join the vibrant community of women survivors on the TBO Weekend of Recovery at Stony Point, New York, this September 13-15, 2019.
TBO Alumni are always and enthusiastically welcome to come again to deepen and continue what you started at TBO.
Substantial scholarships are still available!
Maybe this is the moment—in your journey of recovery.
Join us at Stony Point.
REGISTRATION ends September 2.
